Duties:
• At the Daily Journal,
managed a newsroom of three reporters, plus one sports editor.
• At the Chronicle,
managed one full-time reporter and a part-time obit clerk.
• Responsible for
story assignments, scheduling, editing, page proofing, some limited page design. Worked with reporters to improve reporting
and writing skills.
• Wrote unsigned
editorials for the Opinion Page.
• In charge of copy,
photos and cover for annual Answer Book, with stories and information on all cities and towns, government officials, services,
recreational opportunities, festivals and events, in a bound tab-sized booklet.

reporting and photography, also some limited video work.
• Maintained separate
Facebook pages for the two newspapers, posting links, stories, photos, videos, breaking news alerts and more.

daily (switched to 6 days a week in 2010, Tuesday-Sunday.) Position: Managing Editor, Business Page Editor.
Duties:
• Managed a newsroom
of seven, including one photographer. Responsible for story assignments, scheduling, editing, page proofing, some limited
page design. Worked with reporters to improve reporting and writing skills.
• As the newsroom
staff was thinned, eventually was in charge of the paper's website and photo desk.
• Assisted with
the switch from one website host company to another; from Town News to Matchbin (which later became Radiate).
• Oversaw major
hardware and software switch for reporters and editors, from old Macs running NewsEdit to new PCs and on-line based NewsEngin.
• Created and maintained
the paper's Facebook and Twitter pages on the web.
• Assisted in the
launch of two on-line only news sites, the Fairmont Bugle and MyPembrokeNC.com.
• Responsible for
weekly business page content.
• Served briefly
as Features Editor between hires.

Duties:
• On the education
beat, coverage of the schools in booming Dorchester District Two, home to the state's largest high school (3,460 students
at the time) and largest elementary school (1,024 students).
• Responsible for
cultivating, gathering, editing and placing a steady stream of education and school news submitted by 25 public schools, three
private schools, and a half dozen colleges and universities.
• Also handled
plenty of general assignment work, new business stories, personality features, and produced copy for numerous special sections
from Women in Business to Car Care.
• Earned a South
Carolina Press Association feature writing award for the paper three weeks into the job.
