Fish Kill

State authorities have ruled the recent mass death of thousands of fish in Lake Macatawa is a natural event and nothing to be alarmed about.
Many lakefront property owners, dealing with new piles of rotting fish with each new day, remain skeptical.
"This is not typical at all ... there is something going on here," said Larry Wiersema.

Lake Mac Jaws

A set of metal jaws the size of a backpack descended into the murky water of Lake Macatawa until it dug into the soft bottom.
The pulley motor moaned and the steel cable whirred, bringing the device back to the surface and onto the deck of the 65-foot research vessel W.G. Jackson.

Ozone Action Day

Ozone is good. Ozone is bad. It depends on where you find it.
If it's floating 40,000 feet above the Earth, it's good, protecting us from the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays and keeping the planet warm.
If it's down around ground level, it's bad, contributing to smog, and acting as a health-threatening air pollutant.
