Kristi Johnson Murder

As Kirk Johnson hung up the phone at his Holland home, memories rushed in of a younger Kristi Johnson hugging and kissing him and telling him, "Daddy, I love you."
He would always respond, "Kristi, I love you."
Moments after receiving the phone call that his daughter was found dead in California, he walked outside his house and looked to the sky.
"I stared up to the heavens, I lifted my eyes and I called out her name and I repeated, 'I love you. I love you. I love you,'" Johnson said.

Capsize

A day of fun in the sun on Lake Michigan turned tragic Saturday morning when a 42-foot power boat flipped over southwest of Holland State Park, claiming one life and sending search and rescue crews into the water for three other men. One of those men was still missing late Saturday.

Camburn Trial

The victims: Two little girls.
The accused: Their mother.
The place: Zeeland.
The sisters were poisoned and stabbed the day before Sept. 11, 2001.
The murders were overshadowed by the national tragedy, but never forgotten.

Camburn Verdict

Two families, joined by marriage, divided by divorce, and ravaged and forever changed by the murder of two little girls, reacted Friday with tears, hugs and defiance to a guilty verdict against Tracy Camburn.
She stabbed her daughters, Kimberly, 5, and Candice, 10, to death on Sept. 10, 2001.

Fatal Crash

Rural roads in central Ottawa County have claimed another life.
Aurelio Serna, 79, of Holland, was killed in a two-car collision at about 2 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of 136th Avenue and Van Buren Street, in Olive Township.
